Yes, I own a cell phone. That being said, I believe there are certain rules of etiquette which should be followed for cell phone owners.

1. If you are in the library, put it on vibrate. I do not spend much time there anyway, so I don’t really want to hear your cool ringtone, or your loud conversation. Once you answer, whisper that you are in the library, then GO OUTSIDE.

2. Outside the library does not mean the foyer. That is annoying.

3. For the love of all things that should be kept private, DO NOT TALK ON YOUR CELL IN THE BATHROOM! In the past 5 months, there have been many times when I have walked into the restroom and someone was yakking away on their phone as if this horrible, horrible, private place was their living room. It was especially disgusting when someone was sitting in a stall talking on their cell phone as if the toilet was their La-Z-Boy.

4. When in class, turn your phone off. We don’t want to hear your cool ringtone.

5. When class is dismissed, maybe it’s a good idea to talk to someone in your general vicinity instead of, you guessed it, talking on your cell phone.

The reason I bring this up is because when I walk on campus, there are times, and I am guilty of this as well, when I see more people talking on their phones rather than each other. I understand that we all have people to talk to and business to take care of, but it’s becoming quite a problem, and is something that is very rude.

I’m taking my stand and leaving my phone off as much as possible when I’m on campus, unless I know there is something that could possibly be urgent business.

This morning, me, Jen, Currie, Abby, Erik and Joy all celebrated the end of the school year by eating breakfast at the Rock Road Diner, which is about 2 miles from our apartments.

Being a connoisseur of diner fare, I have to say this place has all the right ingredients and met nearly all my expectations.

Here is the criteria this place meets:
1. You walk in and one of the employees is smoking - check
2. You hear the word hun, honey, or something similar - check
3. There are stools - check, in fact they only have two or three small tables
4. Menu was printed from home computer and lamenated - check
5. You can see the grill - check, we watched them cook our food
6. Small capacity seating - check
7. Good food - check
8. Cheap - check
9. Grease - check
10. Drinkable coffee - check
11. Old timers who are just there drinking coffee - check, in fact one dude didn’t order and one of the two employees just brought “his usual” out to him

This place is old school and what a great time we had this morning.

In a real heartstopper, Bobby took his last Final today - Gospels, a class he’s put off for two years!

Yeah…that’s about it…………..

I think this is a good way to show there is a grassroots concern about some of the divisions that exist between we Presbyterians.

This week is a week of endings for me. Last week I turned 29, so I have one more year until the big 3-0 and this week some of the shows that I associate with my 20s are ending.
So, I said goodbye to the Camdens and 7th Heaven this week. I know it was a predictable, cheesy, and sappy show, but still there is something endearing to it. I like to call it my “soap opera”. So after 10 years, and 200+ episodes (yes, I’ve seen almost all of them and it’s been neat to watch all those characters literally grow up), it’s over.

This week is also a goodbye to That 70s Show. I’ve been with this show basically since the beginning. It is sophomoric, vulgar at times, and seems to trivialize drug use. But still, it was a funny show (until recently) and I had no idea that 1976-1979 could last 8 years! But alas, it’s over.

Malcolm in the Middle is also leaving. I’ve been watching that since the beginning. Oh man, it is one of the most original, funny shows of the past 10-15 years. The show’s take on the middle-class life of a highly disfunctional family has been one of most interesting journeys into comedy ever. Bryan Cranston - you deserved at least 3 Emmys! But after 7 seasons, it’s time to go.

The biggest near loss for me was King of the Hill. Thankfully, Fox wised up and ordered season 11. Whew…..my favorite show….has one…more…year.

But, why am I lamenting the loss of some of my shows? Well, I think that it’s a bit of nostalgia, really. I can watch a certain episode of a program and remember what was going on in my life at the time, my mood, and all the events leading up to now. It’s strange. And, even though, TV is fake (even reality TV), there are aspects of it that seem to progress with your life (as you’re hooked), and there are bits of things you can identify with.

And the significance for all these shows to me is how I have been watching them through the bulk of the best decade of my life so far, and now as my best decade is ending, so are these shows.

So like my soon to be lost 20s…some of them beat me to it.

At least the Simpsons will be around for a gazillion more seasons.

Of class then it’s off to Finals: Spring 2006.

I just finished my paper for Christian Ethics (Extreme Makeover: Exploring Elective Cosmetic Plastic Surgery) and there’s only a little left to do.

One of my professors, Anthony Bradley, was on Fox News the other night talking about his column which was on the Duke rape scandal.
